Frequently Asked Questions
What is Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)?
MAT combines FDA-approved medications with support and counseling to help treat opioid use disorder and alcohol use disorder. It can help reduce cravings, manage withdrawal symptoms, and support recovery.
What medications do you offer?
I provide MAT with:
Suboxone® (buprenorphine/naloxone) — used to treat opioid use disorder and help reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms.
Naltrexone — used for opioid use disorder and alcohol use disorder to help reduce cravings.
During your evaluation, we will discuss which option may be the best fit for you.
Do I have to stop using before starting MAT?
It depends on the medication being considered. During your consultation, I will review your situation and guide you through the safest next steps.
Is MAT just replacing one medication with another?
No. MAT is an evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders. These medications are carefully prescribed to help reduce cravings, improve stability, and support recovery.
Do you provide mental health care too?
Yes. I provide medication management with brief supportive therapy to address mental health symptoms and support your overall recovery. I also treat conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, and mood disorders.
How do I know if MAT is right for me?
The first step is a conversation. We will discuss your history, goals, and concerns to determine if MAT is an appropriate option for you.
