Saleh Bahati, MD(FMG), MPH, MSN, PMHNP-BC
My Background
I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and am licensed in Arizona and Florida.
I earned my degree from Florida International University in Miami and completed my Master of Public Health in Epidemiology at Saint Louis University.
Before becoming a psychiatric provider, I spent more than 12 years working as a general family physician and hospitalist internationally. That experience gave me the opportunity to care for people from many different backgrounds and helped me understand that healthcare is not just about treating a condition; it is about caring for the person experiencing it.
My medical background continues to influence how I practice today. I look at the whole picture: your mental health, physical health, life experiences, stressors, and the things that matter most to you.
About
Welcome to Amicus Health & Wellness
At Amicus Health & Wellness, we believe mental health care starts with listening. Every person has a different story, different experiences, and different goals. Because of that, treatment should never be one-size-fits-all.
The name Amicus means friend. That is the kind of relationship we strive to build with every patient one based on trust, respect, honesty, and working together toward better mental health.
Many of the people I meet are not coming in because they have given up. They are coming in because they are tired of struggling alone and want to understand what is happening and what can be done.
Maybe you have noticed that your anxiety has become harder to manage. Maybe your mood has changed, your sleep has been affected, or you feel like you are no longer functioning the way you used to. Sometimes people cannot explain exactly what is wrong; they just know something does not feel right.
That is where I can help.
My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being honest, asking questions, and talking about what you are experiencing without feeling judged. I believe good mental health care starts with listening and understanding your story.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why I Chose Psychiatry
Throughout my career, I have seen how deeply mental health affects every part of a person’s life.
When someone is struggling with anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, mood changes, or difficulty focusing, it can affect their relationships, work, confidence, and ability to enjoy everyday moments.
Many people who come to my practice are individuals who have always been responsible and dependable. They may be professionals, students, parents, or caregivers who are used to taking care of everyone else.
They often come in when their usual ways of coping are no longer enough.
They may say things like:
“I don’t know why I feel this way.”
“I used to be able to handle everything, but now I can’t.”
“I just want to feel like myself again.”
My role is to help you understand what is happening and work with you toward a plan that helps you feel better and function better.
My Approach to Care
I believe every person deserves to feel heard.
When you meet with me, I want to understand more than just your symptoms. I want to understand how those symptoms affect your daily life, your relationships, your work, and your goals.
I take a thoughtful and individualized approach to treatment.
Some people benefit from medication. Some people need a different approach. Sometimes the first step is simply gaining clarity and understanding what is contributing to the challenges you are experiencing.
I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.
My goal is to work with you, explain your options, and create a treatment plan that makes sense for your needs and your life.
My Experience in Psychiatric Care
My psychiatric experience includes inpatient psychiatry, crisis stabilization, and outpatient care. I have worked with individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, including complex cases involving serious mental illness and substance use.
These experiences have taught me the importance of providing care that is structured, practical, and compassionate.
Mental health treatment should not only focus on reducing symptoms. It should help you get back to living your life; being present with your family, performing at work or school, sleeping better, and feeling more like yourself.

If you are considering reaching out, I want you to know that you do not need to have everything figured out before scheduling an appointment.
You do not need to know exactly what is wrong. You do not need to explain everything perfectly. That is what we will work through together.
My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable sharing what you’re going through and where your concerns are heard and taken seriously.
We’ll take the time to understand what you’ve been experiencing and work together to find an approach to care that feels right for you.
