Reaching out for mental health care can feel like one of the hardest steps to take. Whether you’ve been struggling for years or something just doesn’t feel quite right, you’re welcome here.
Your psychiatric evaluation is our opportunity to sit down, talk openly about what you’ve been experiencing, and begin understanding what’s been getting in the way of feeling like yourself. My goal isn’t to rush to a diagnosis or simply prescribe medication; it’s to listen carefully, understand your story, and help you find a path forward that feels right for you.
You don’t need to have all the answers before scheduling an appointment. You simply need a place to begin.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a psychiatric evaluation?
A psychiatric evaluation is a comprehensive assessment that helps me understand your mental, emotional, and overall well-being.
We’ll talk about what brought you here, how you’ve been feeling, your medical and mental health history, your daily life, and the goals you have for your care. Every conversation is different because every person’s experiences are unique.
This isn’t about fitting you into a diagnosis; it’s about understanding you as a whole person.
What can I expect during my first appointment?
Your first appointment typically lasts 60 minutes, giving us the time to have a thoughtful conversation without feeling rushed.
Together, we’ll discuss:
- What you’ve been experiencing and how it’s affecting your life
- Your emotional and physical health history
- Previous treatment, therapy, or medications
- Your sleep, stress, relationships, and daily routines
- Your concerns, questions, and goals for treatment
If I believe a diagnosis can be made during your evaluation, I’ll explain it clearly and answer your questions. If more information is needed, we’ll take the time to gather it before making decisions.
What happens after my evaluation?
At the end of your visit, we’ll discuss the next steps together.
Depending on your needs, your treatment plan may include:
- Medication, if it’s appropriate for your situation
- Therapy recommendations
- Lifestyle strategies that support mental wellness
- Additional assessments or laboratory tests, if needed
- Follow-up appointments to continue your care
Every recommendation is made thoughtfully and with your input. My role is to provide guidance, education, and support so you can make informed decisions about your treatment.
Will I be prescribed medication?
Not necessarily. Medication is one treatment option, but it isn’t the right choice for everyone. If medication is recommended, we’ll discuss the benefits, potential risks, and whether it aligns with your goals before making any decisions together.
What if I don't know what's wrong?
That’s completely okay. Many people come to their first appointment knowing something doesn’t feel right but aren’t sure why. That’s exactly what the evaluation is for; to help us better understand what you’re experiencing.
What is your approach to care?
I believe effective mental health care begins with feeling heard and understood.
Talking about personal struggles can be difficult, especially if you have had experiences where you felt dismissed or unheard. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you can share your concerns without fear of judgment.
Together, we will work to understand what is happening, explore treatment options, and create a plan that reflects your goals, values, and individual needs.
You deserve care that is compassionate, collaborative, and centered around you.
